About Charlotte Lyras

FEI Junior Rider

Making Her Way Up the Dressage Ladder

Just over twelve years ago, Charlotte was introduced to the world of horses by her mom. At only three years old, she sat proudly atop a purebred Arabian and entered the show ring for the very first time in a lead-line class. That was it, she was hooked.

Her curiosity, intrigue, and love for these magnificent animals grew quickly, and before long, the time came to buy Charlotte her very first horse. After purchasing Eddie, Charlotte briefly explored the Hunter world. But that path changed the day her mom showed her a video of an Olympic dressage rider performing a musical freestyle. The grace, precision, and connection between horse and rider instantly captured her heart and from that moment on, Charlotte was determined to devote herself to the art of dressage.

Over the years, Charlotte’s goals have continued to evolve and grow. From her early days in local competitions to the national stage, her journey has been built on dedication, patience, and an unshakable belief in what’s possible through hard work.

In 2024–2025, Charlotte’s partnership with Dino, a talented schoolmaster, marked a major turning point in her riding career. Together, they had a whirlwind season, earning titles including #1 Ranked Gold FEI freestyle Junior Rider in Canada and top 5 FEI Junior Rider overall, along with multiple regional championships. Their success cemented Charlotte’s place as one of Canada’s top young riders and showcased her talent, discipline, and quiet determination. Outside the show ring, Charlotte’s story has captured the hearts of thousands. Her social media platforms have grown rapidly, with videos reaching over 400,000 views and tens of thousands of interactions. Through her posts, she shares not only her competition highlights, but also the real, behind-the-scenes moments that make her journey so relatable, the laughter, the learning, and the love she has for every horse she rides.

As one chapter closed with Dino, another began. In the fall of 2025, Charlotte purchased Vila, a 3½-year-old Oldenburg mare she plans to develop through the levels with the long-term goal of one day competing at the Grand Prix. Vila had less than 60 days under saddle when they met, but her intelligence, athleticism, and gentle nature quickly won Charlotte’s heart. Together with her coach, Charlotte is spending the winter laying the foundation for what she hopes will become a lifelong partnership.

Charlotte’s story is one of perseverance, passion, and purpose. With the support of her family, coaches, and community, she continues to chase her dreams, one ride, one challenge, and one unforgettable moment at a time. The future is bright, and this is only the beginning.
