Cold Days, Big Dreams

Winter may be freezing, but things around here have been anything but boring. We’ve been bundling up, laughing a lot, and making the absolute most of our barn time, and honestly, it’s been such a fun stretch.
One of the biggest highlights was my mom and I appearing on What’s Up London! We got to chat all things dressage and talk about our book, Riding for Gold. It was equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking (TV is scary, not going to lie), but such a cool experience. Getting to share our story outside of the horse world felt really special and we had so much fun doing it.
I also had the chance to share my journey with Horse Sport, where I was featured in an article on their website. Seeing my story out there and connecting with more people who love horses as much as I do has been incredibly rewarding. I truly love sharing my world of dressage, it’s what makes this journey even more meaningful.
Back at the barn, Vila continues to amaze us daily. She’s getting more balanced, her transitions are becoming clearer, and she’s settling into her work with such a relaxed, confident attitude. On the extra-cold days, we’ve been doing desensitization work, and honestly… the funniest part is how unfazed she is. For a 3.5-year-old, she handles every new experience like an absolute pro. Her temperament and brain are unreal, and I feel so lucky to have her.
Some exciting news, we’re heading to work with Heather Broadhead in February to try the horse simulator! I’m so curious (and excited) to see the results and know it’s going to help elevate my riding.
Now we’re just counting down the days until warmer weather, sunshine, and finally getting to ride Vila outside. Winter, you’ve been fun but spring, we’re ready for you.
